The Entrepreneurial Accelerator 2: Equitable Financial Strategy

Overview

Due to COVID-19 several funding opportunities ( e.g. PPP, Buncombe One, EDIL, and The Tourism Fund) have opened up, but many entrepreneurs of color have not been able to compete for the funds. At the African American Business Association May meeting, Mountain Bizworks reported they still had approximately $100k earmarked for the African American Business Community, but had not been able to find businesses suitable to share the money with.

Many businesses of color want to take part in these opportunities, but face challenges applying for this money. In most cases, they don’t have what they need to simply apply. For example, they don’t have current profit & loss statements or their taxes aren’t up to date. Non-profit Organizations lack proper documentation for their organizations like an EIN, non-profit organization bylaws, board members, 501(c)3 letters, websites, and annual reports.
